Radioactive dating assumptions

In fact, the first radiochronology assumptions were adapted to fit the stratigraphic scale used by geochronologists of the end of the 19th century.
Radiometric dating methods are calibrated against the geologic column, which is a relative timescale based on evolution theory and naturalism.
The significance and relevance of these assumptions have not been demonstrated.It is clear that the sedimentary rock was deposited and folded before the dyke was squeezed into place.By looking at other outcrops in the area, our geologist is able to draw a geological map which records how the rocks are related to each other in the field.The Uranium-238 radioisotope goes through 13 transitional stages before stabilizing into Lead-206 (U238 Pb206).In this instance, Uranium-238 is called the "parent" and Lead-206 is called the "daughter".
Of course, there are many problems with such dating methods, such as parent or daughter substances entering or leaving the rock, as well as daughter product being present at the beginning.
